I wrote the following on facebook on January 24th, 2009:
I'm up at 3 in the morning and I can't fall asleep. So I wanted to get something off my chest. Some beliefs of mine. But before I do, I want to make something clear. I'm not writing this note to bash any religions, just to let you know why I think the way I do. If you want to leave feedback of any sort, feel free. I'd love it. Whether it's to agree or disagree. If you can prove me wrong, do it. I love being proven wrong. Okay, enough with the premature apology. Let's get to it:
I believe that the overall concept of religion is a concoction of faith, loyalty, and just a dash of bull shit. Okay maybe more than a dash.
For example, some religions believe that contact was first made with god through a burning bush. First of all, if a guy sees a burning bush, why would he go towards it. I doubt he had a hose in hand trying to put it out. I believe he was a maniac. Because as far as I'm concerned, if a person in this day and age claimed to have had a conversation with god through burning flora, they wouldn't be put in a holy book. No, instead, they'd get a one way ticket straight to the nearest asylum. People are smarter now. Back then, the people followed this guy. The more I think about, the less I look at him as a maniac. Maybe, just maybe, he was a genius. He devised a brilliant plan to impress a couple chicks back then. You know how much he probably got laid. He was a celebrity. And nobody questioned him after he seemed to be lost after 40 years in the desert. I think god should have put a map on the back of the ten commandments.
But don't get mad at this prophet. There were other people who took advantage of the idiots of the time. That's right, royalty. A lot of religion was just made to keep people in check. There were no punishments back then for murder if you didn't get caught. But if they instilled the fear in people that there was a guy in the clouds with surveillance cameras throughout the world, (which was still flat at the time) they would hesitate to kill somebody. Yet, there were still few that thought that guy wouldn't do anything. So the king or emperor came up with a realm of the greatest possible pain known to mankind at the time. Burning fire. This worked so well, that other crimes were transformed into acts that would damn you to hell. So people started asking what happened if they didn't commit those crimes. So the ruler of the land thought of the greatest wonder at the time. Somewhere nobody could travel to and prove wrong. The sky. "Why yes", he thought, "heaven shall be a kingdom in the sky, floating on the clouds".
But...
I believe religion has backfired. Today, people are using the concept of religion in order to kill for their god, to achieve greater salvation in the afterlife. What was first invented to stop crime, will now be used to promote it. But people are still stupid.
Just like all those people followed the prophet through the desert, people today, follow the lives of hollywood stars. It is the nature of humans, and always will be.
Just like the citizens of the kingdom who foolishly believed their ruler, citizens today believe everything they are force fed through the ears. They don't question just follow. It is the nature of humans, and always will be.
Now, I was raised Muslim, and I constantly heard people say that all Muslims are going to heaven. Nobody else. I said bullllllllll shittttttttttt. I know some Muslims that are horrible people. I know great people of various other religions. But a Muslim who's a child molester is going to be forgiven, but an atheist who saves a person's life still didn't do enough in life. Horse shit. I've heard religious people say that only god can judge a person. Yet, they judge homosexuals and say it's the biggest sin. It was made a sin because society looked down on it. I think fanatics are hypocrites.
Just like any business, religions compete with each other. It's just about who has a bigger following. People stick together and bash other people for not being the same. Not conforming. It is the nature of humans, and always will be.
And finally, I think it also involves authority. Because, as I said, the kings and emperors preached it. If a homeless man of that kingdom preached it, nobody would have listened. And I bet the "prophets" were pretty good looking. Cause nobody's gonna follow an ugly motherfucker. The best looking guys. Women couldn't come out and say they talked to a burning bush. They would have been told to shut up and make a camel sandwich. Because of authority. People in authority will abuse power. It is the nature of humans, and always will be.
I don't consider myself any religion. Because, before religion, people didn't say they were atheist. There was no such thing. They just went about life trying to survive. That's what I'm trying to do. Be a survivor. When I die, I'll see what happens. Or doesn't. Or maybe I won't see anything.
So that's it. My thoughts. My first note. Let me know what you think.
thank you for the watch!

Same to you as well. I'd appreciate it if you could comment on my deviation and tell others to read it. Thanks
